Where can I get an API key?

The API key is available in the Developer Tools section of the PassEntry dashboard.

How do I issue production NFC passes?

To issue NFC passes for live production usage, your use case must be approved by PassEntry. You will need to provide proof of your use case, company information and fill out a form to request approval. You may be asked to provide additional information. This process may take a few days to complete. Final approval is subject to Apple and Google’s approval, which can be facilitated by PassEntry. This is to ensure that we are compliant with Apple and Google’s terms of service.

Can I create a pass with both NFC and barcode?

Yes, you can create a pass with both NFC and barcode. On Apple, the barcode will be visible on the Pass Details section, on Google, there will be a “Show code” button under the pass section. Please see below for exceptions.

Why do I have to choose to enable Google NFC when creating a loyalty pass?

Loyalty templates have a setting: “Enable Google NFC”. When enabled, and setting an barcode value and no NFC value, this will be presented as both a barcode and an NFC value on the pass. If an NFC value is set, and no barcode value, only the NFC value will be displayed. When disabled, the pass will only display the barcode.

What are soft and hard limits?

PassEntry uses two types of resource limits: Soft limits: Flexible thresholds that can be exceeded. We’ll notify you when this happens, but your service continues running. You should upgrade your plan when consistently exceeding soft limits. Hard limits: Strict thresholds that cannot be exceeded. Once reached, you must upgrade your plan to create more resources. Note: All limits are hard limits unless specified as soft limits.
